Michèle Oberdieck is a glass artist and designer working with colour, light and form.
Glass botanicals, new additions to the Fantasy Plant series.
Contemporary Glass Art
Blown glass sculptural vessels and forms inspired by botanical themes skillfully and intuitively blend colour, movement, light and reflection.
Commissions
Bespoke glass works can be commissioned in various colours, sizes and combinations. Grouping of vessels together create a narrative in their relationship to one another.
Commissioning new works can be developed through discussion.
Graal: A Unique Glass Process
Reinterpreting a 100 year old classic Swedish technique, Graal, Oberdieck introduces pattern by cold cutting through colour overlays. These cups of colour are then reblown and as the form evolves the cut marks blend and distort creating ethereal watery effects.
As part of Collect Open 2023 in Somerset House, Oberdieck created and exhibited a new installation of imagined fantasy plants and vegetation made from blown glass. This series is intended to question the effects of climate change on our environment, looking at both extinct and newly discovered plants.
